BEYOND THE TURNSTILES

The match is only
part of the trip.

A new ground is a good reason to go somewhere. What happens around it often makes the weekend: the city, the food, a beer before kick-off and the people you meet along the way.

That’s what these guides are about. The practical stuff, the good bits and the mistakes I’d rather you didn’t have to repeat.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE GUIDES

I’m Richard.
This is Groundhopper Rich.

I’m a Bristol City supporter with a love of football and travelling to watch it. Over the years, I’ve built up plenty of stories, photographs and lessons from grounds across Britain, Europe and beyond.

I started Groundhopper Rich to share those experiences. The guides are independent, based on trips I’ve made and written with fellow supporters in mind. I also write on Substack about football, travel and the things that stay with you long after the final whistle.
